Alf Wheeler’s career has been defined by innovation and impact. With nearly four decades of expertise in industrial materials science and sustainable manufacturing, he has consistently pushed boundaries in search of better solutions.
At just 23, Alf founded Blanket Bar International, growing it from scratch into a global market leader with operations across three continents. But after witnessing the environmental toll of traditional manufacturing firsthand, he set out to develop truly circular alternatives.
His pioneering work laid the foundation for Zeo’s revolutionary water-only binding technology, which transforms waste fibres into high-performance materials without glues, resins, or petrochemicals. Today, Zeo’s breakthrough solutions empower architects, designers, and manufacturers to create without compromise.

Felix Wheeler leads Zeo’s business development, driving market expansion and delivering a strategic sales approach that positions Zeo as a leader in renewable materials.
Felix has been with Zeo for two years, but his connection to the company runs deeper. Raised in a family dedicated to sustainable innovation, he grew up immersed in conversations about environmental responsibility and circular design. Sustainability isn’t just a career for him—it’s part of his DNA.
Educated in the Steiner system, Felix developed a creative mindset and a unique approach to problem-solving—skills that have proven invaluable to both the Zeo team and its customers.
With a background in sustainable energy sales, Felix brings invaluable expertise in building win-win partnerships and opening new markets. Ry Healey is a digital designer specialising in additive manufacturing and material innovation. With a background in design, fabrication, and engineering, Ry combines creativity with advanced technology to solve complex manufacturing challenges.
With over a decade of experience in large-format additive manufacturing, Ry has consistently pushed the boundaries of what’s possible. His expertise lies in developing efficient, sustainable production processes that minimise waste while maximising performance.
As a Technologist at Zeo, Ry plays a key role in optimising manufacturing processes, pioneering sustainable solutions that transform plant-based materials into durable, eco-friendly products for various industries. His innovations ensure Zeo’s production systems operate efficiently, reducing waste while improving scalability.

Jesse Bird leads research and development at Zeo, focusing on the design and optimisation of systems and product design. His architectural and material engineering background drives Zeo’s advancement in innovative circular design, manufacturing efficiency, and material performance.
He completed his Master of Architecture at the Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism, Carleton University, in April 2020. His thesis, “Building the Paper Economy: Finding spatial and cultural agency through recycled paper,” explored reimagining paper recovery methods for design and construction, particularly in the context of Brazil’s waste management challenges. This work earned him the Maxwell Taylor Scholarship, recognising his innovative approach to sustainable materials.
Before joining Zeo, Jesse was a Research Associate at CSALT Architecture from 2018 to 2021, focusing on cellulose research and design. He also worked as a Digital Lab Instructor at the Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism, Carleton University, from April to August 2020, where he contributed to research on sustainable building materials.
